From looking at the Google Images, this is a walnut tree. I think the black walnut tree has slightly smaller leaves than the regular walnut? But we do not have walnut tree at our property.

At our property, we do have two or three large black walnut trees. Their seedlings do cause problems...

There's no such thing as "regular walnut". Its black or some other species.

If you crush a black walnut leaf, you will get a very peculiar pungent smell. Ash has no smell except for a green smell.

Also, if you slice lengthwise through a walnut stem you will find a chambered pith.

Here is a link that might be useful: chambered pith

This is another black walnut tree. The mother trees have put out nuts the size of pigeon eggs.

I think this tree has to go/cut. It is stuck between other tall trees and this is not very desirable tree.

Leave room for sassifras, prunus serrotina and even the wild cherry trees.
