This Pin Oak is about five years old. It was growing great until summer 2013 when in early spring the leaves on the entire tree suddenly turned brown and crumbled. I waited till this year to see if it was still alive, and it is, but as you can see, about 30% of the branches have no leaves. The leaves that are there do look healthy The trunk looks healthy too, but it less smooth on one side. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with it and is there any way to save it? I'm thinking about chopping it, but wanted to get a second opinion.
