Recommend a Shrub or Tree for south side of home

Hello,
I recently re-did decorative flower beds on the southwest corner of the south side of my home and have exactly a 3' x 3' area to work with. The beds are approx 18" high.

The bed gets full sun and i'd like either a nice dwarf tree or a flowering shrub to fill the space. The soil type is lightly sandy mixed with soil (i think the previous homeowners added coarse sand to the beds, because it's the only spot in the entire yard that I have found sand) with clay starting 4-6 inches down. I can fill the bed with any mixture of gardening soil + additives.

Also, there is a large-ish amount of foundation that is exposed and has been painted with medium gray foundation paint that i would like to hide. The siding on my home is carolina blue in color.

I'd like to put a nice contrasting color to the siding in the space - something with maybe a nice deep green/purple-ish foliage. For blossoms I would prefer whites or cooler in color (ie: lavender or powder blue) or something complimentary - a bright red or orange.

I really like a weeping style of tree, but I haven't come across a dwarf variety that would be able to take that much sun. I also really like hydrangea or virbunum style blooms too.

Anyway, i'm quite open to anything and would love some recommendations.

Thanks!

Korean Viburnum (V. carlesii). Little pruning, very fragrant flowers, dark pleated leaves. Maybe I'm wanting one so bad that it is all I can think of.

Excellent suggestions! I will look into these.

Also, my mother recommend a dwarf weeping cherry tree, which seems quite impressive... options! =)

Thanks,
