Eastern Redbud Bark Damage

I have a small 7 foot redbud. I was pruning a lower branch and accidently peeled off about a two inch strip of bark off the main trunk. Should I ignore this or do something to protect the exposed green section?

figure out how to cut it off.. w/o further damage..

and then ignore it...

and wallow in your guilt ...

no paint..

it will 'heal itself' ....

a pic might change my mind ...
