Yep, veluntina. There's so much variability among their leaves. Most are not rounded so much but are pointed at all the lobes.

Yup. Sometimes velutina can resemble rubra or coccinea, but that leaf-type is pretty unique to velutina.

Yeah, black oak leaves have dark, shiny green tops just like those. Couple of impressive lawn specimens just up the road from me.

I have one in full sun, it's not too big, but I love the form so far. {{gwi:375590}} Not to bad for being under 10 yrs old. I can't remember it's age. The leaves on the open grown one look different in shape. Thanks for the answers.
