Norway Spruce

Quick question, appreciate the help in advance. I planted 15 Norway Spruces about 3 years ago. They were 5-6footers, and are now close to 15ft tall. They are growing like crazy!!!! Now the problem is the main leader has put on about 2-3ft of new growth and almost all of them are weeping/drooping over at the top. They look real funny, and I'm not sure what to do.
I was told by local nursery's to top them, but from my research here that does not seem like a good idea. Any advice?????? I will try and get a pic up tomorrow. Thanks again

If you are talking about the very newest growth from this Spring, I wouldn't worry yet. Let it harden off. Usually it will straighten up.

That is how mine look too. As famartin said it will be okay, and never top a tree, as you already knew. I wouldn't ask the nursery who said that for any more advice.

Yeah, no topping is necessary. What looks spindly and too bare now will thicken and next year, side branches will emerge at the point where that new leader terminates, grow larger and heavier with time, and completely "fill in" the gap. Norway spruce, and all spruce (And all trees really) know exactly how to grow!
