Please ID this tree I found while camping

I found this tree by pancake bay, in the sault ste marie area of ontario. It was growing on a sandy beach which was completely covered in 6 inch river rock about 10 feet from the lake.
I for some reason decided to bring it home and its survived since early may and has leafed out well. Can anyone ID it?
