Sequoia seed germination?

So I have been clearing the garden, and i found a few cones i have found they look almost identical to sequoia cones, and they had a few seeds in so i would like to grow some. there is a very very tall tree in the garden next to me, which also looks like a S.

i also know the germination rate is very low, and they can take from days to months.

because they have been on the floor i hve pout them into some damp paper towels, and will leave them like thta till tonight, but what does it need light?
i have also read they don;t like to be burried but they want to be constantly moist, so i will soak soil from bottom, and them mist them overy day.

so any tips?
kind of soil? light?

==>>. yes.. ID the tree for info specific to whatever you are growing ...

otherwise... what more can we suggest????

RE: Sequoia seed germination?

the cones was a Sequoya i have had one come through since posting this thread.

i planted them in a shallow tray, and bearly covered them with soil, i can see the seeds. they are misted every day and watered every third day.

RE: Sequoia seed germination?

This isn't the best time to start seedlings - they may not have enough heft to harden off properly for winter, even in your mild climate.
