Sequoia seed germination?

Hello,

So I have been clearing the garden, and i found a few cones i have found they look almost identical to sequoia cones, and they had a few seeds in so i would like to grow some. there is a very very tall tree in the garden next to me, which also looks like a S.

i also know the germination rate is very low, and they can take from days to months.

because they have been on the floor i hve pout them into some damp paper towels, and will leave them like thta till tonight, but what does it need light?
i have also read they don;t like to be burried but they want to be constantly moist, so i will soak soil from bottom, and them mist them overy day.

so any tips?
kind of soil? light?
leo
