Planting/excavation advice

Several years ago I planted a white pine tree about 9 feet from my underground sewer pipe. Recently, I've read that trees should never be planted closer than 10 feet to the sewer pipe. Should I go ahead an excavate the tree now before it's too big for me to do it on my own? Also, I planted another white pine at the side of my house about 17 feet away from the building. Is that too close to the house. Should I take that one down? White pines get very tall, 75 ft., but not very wide, about 30 ft.
