How can I straighten out this tree?

I inherited this tree and it was growing crooked when I got it. I've moved it into a sunnier place, but it still grows crooked. What type of tree is it and how should it be properly cared for? TIA!

if it were me.. i would research propagation.. and if you could root the top .. then just get rid of the rest

thats a pretty small pot for that size plant.. whatever it is. ... and of course.. that is where you will have to start.. an ID

It looks like you could simply replant it in a straightened out fashion. The foliage will reorient towards the sun. What is that thing, a pineapple?

Looks like some sort of Dracena.
They root very easily- just cut off the top portion and stick it in soil. Easy as pie.
Then cut back the stem to about two inches or so and it will sprout new growth as well.
