A photo to help others see things more clearly might help...and though you water...explain your process of time and such. We can't tell by the lack of watering instructions if it's been watered to little or to much.

For example...when I water my newly planted tree. I am letting the nozzle run at a slow trickle for 30-45 minutes depending on the heat...every 2-3 days. By watering slowly...I am watering deep and not having run off watering weeds and such about.
