Definitely a species from the genus Araucaria. Looks like Norfolk Island Pine (A. heterophylla).

If it isn't araucaria, it might be some cultivar of cryptomeria japonica

I'm thinking Araucaria also. As soon as you get far enough south (or whatever is appropriate in a particular region) for frosts to not be a significant factor these trees become common. In Hawaii the dominant "Norfolk Island Pine" is actually A. columnaris, although A. heterophylla is also present.

Balboa Park, in San Diego has a whole collection of different ones - unfortunately not labeled.
