I can't tell much more than it's pyramidal and large. You can do better than the 'leaves are a nice puffy type'. I don't understand that. Single, compound? Smooth edges? How large? Where is this tree located? A closer photo of the leaves would be helpful. Thank you.

How about a limbed up metasequoia (dawn redwood) or taxodium (bald cypress)?

did anyone else notice that the idiots who.. in the last pic.. couldnt hit plumb with the lamp post.. but ma nature took are of the job... lol .. might be a optical illusion...

i dont know why you would presume its a named variety ... if city planted .....

one problem you might want to solve... is how gangly and wide they can get.. before they shoot skyward ... meaning you might have sidewalk and street issues... i wonder if this tree was planted... before road widening????

Yep, the leaf-semicloseup shows it's baldcypress -- dawn redwood leaves are noticeably larger/coarser than that.

Looks unusually dense -- might be Shawnee.

There's a similar-looking, dense baldcypress (but much larger) in front of the Dept of Ag building in Wash DC.

Sometimes, regular bald cypress or montezuma cypress can be very dense.

Yes, variants propagated and sold under names may not be the only examples of the variation. Some particular variations may even be frequent in seedling batches. But the main thing in this instance is that it is known one called 'Shawnee Brave' does what is wanted. Whether or not the tree in the picture belongs to that variety is secondary.
