What is going on there? Did ya just remove a retaining wall to get that killer view of the roots?

this is in a creek, it has been that way for as long as I know.

I am fascinated by exposed roots and "hanging" trees. I shoukd have guessed creek bed.

If it is the root 2 I bet it will not kill the tree. I guess if we were really worried the fall would be the best time.

Root 1 looks pretty structural.

If you are talking about cutting the root that's shown in front of the fence, on the right side of the picture, I doubt it will have much effect on the tree. The root looks relatively small compared to the tree and probably isn't even doing much to structurally support the tree, either. I wouldn't worry if I needed to remove it.

and why you cant just work around the root ... by cutting the fencing.. and placing it over the root...

is the roots on the ground.. or hanging out in space ???

your fencing can easily be cut.. lets call it 'placed' around the root.. and rewoven ...
