Crab apple tree has yellow withered leaves

I have a tree in the middle of my yard which I think is a crab apple tree, but I'm not 100% sure. It has red cranberry like ornamental fruit in the winter and has pink/white blossoms in the spring. Usually in the summer it maintains its green leaves. However, this summer all of the leaves have withered and turned yellow and the berries have dried up as well. Any ideas what could be wrong with my tree and what I can do to help it.

Here is a link that might be useful: http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z369/Erinmoshier/upload1.jpg

RE: Crab apple tree has yellow withered leaves

if that is the whole tree.. it is dead ...

if its only one branch ... the branch is dead.. and we would need to see the rest of the tree ...

and if you want us to speculate why it died... we need pix of the whole .... and any additional facts that might help.. e.g. its a recent transplant ... [of which i expect dan's default #1]

Not with info provided. Seeing as how 38% of the country is in some form of drought, that's a good place to start.
