Help with Swedish Aspens

I'm extremely frustrated with the two Swedish Aspens I planted two weeks ago. We already have 9 in our backyard and they have done well for 3 years so I'm flustered why these ones are dying. The trees that were previously in place were closer to the fence and in an area that didn't drain well. According to the garden center, they were also planted to deep. The drainage was corrected and the new trees we planted according to the exact detail of the garden center. (Depth of root base and twice as wide with 2 cups of Myke's). The trees are watered with a Ross root water spike for about 5 minutes every five days. Three days ago the leaves started getting dry (so we watered) and falling off. This morning, what was left were part black and the trees were almost bare.

Can they be saved? Yes there is the Myke's insurance, but I hate to rip up the landscape fabric and move rock again.
