| Just bought a house, and it has three bradford pears.
The closest specimen to the house and driveway (15' to house, 5' from driveway) is the largest, and two winters ago lost the largest trunk.
Checked out the UMass tree guide, as well as a local utility company tree guide. Nothing is really popping out as great choices. Any suggestions for folks that found something with similar characteristics? Thanks! -B

| I always seem to recommend the same trees, but then again this is a common question. I like natives, and you've probably already considered some of these: Dogwood (Cornus florida) Serviceberry (Amelanchier arborea) Yellowwood (Cladrastic kentukea) Sourwood (Oxydendrum arboreum) American hornbeam (Carpinus caroliniana) Redbud (Cercis canadensis) Carolina silverbell (Halesia carolina) Sassafras (Sassafras albidum) Blackgum (Nyssa sylvatica) |
