in my world.. warped as it is.. nothing is worth moving a 20 foot tree.. especially a maple..

for the thousands you would spend to do it [having it done by a pro].. for a couple hundred.. you could buy one 1/3 the size .. and do it yourself ..

and most maples grow 3 to 5 feet per year.. so it wont take long for an 8 to 10 footer to catch up ... minus the back surgery .. or the wallet-ectomy ....

Hey Sj, the ones I've seen, which I believe are the "Skinners" cutleaf silver, do indeed resemble regular silvers in all other respects.

As far as transplant, at twenty feet, that's a tree spade job for sure. Maybe you already figured that!

Yeah, I know its a tree spade job, so the whole project depends on how much that would cost. They are nice trees, just planted too close to each other, my grass, and the firepit.

OK. Silver maples are a dime a dozen around here but I actually kind of liked those cutleaf ones that used to be in front of a nearby school. They looked good. The school has since gotten bigger, and the trees, very much smaller, as in gone.

Choice is yours, of course, but I like silver maples in proper situations (enough room). The cutleaf looks especially nice.
