where are you ... soil type ?????

in my z5 MI .. in sand.. on 5 acres.. meaning things can get forgotten..

i NEVER PLANT IN AUGUST .... and.. in fact.. i have a dozen things that i will plant in mid sept or so ....

and i never plant deciduous trees.. with leaves on them ... so.. in dormancy ...

but you dont tell us what kind of trees..

anything.. can be done anytime you wish.. i talk about cutting the odds of failure .... and if you have a small yard.. and will be there every day ... well.. you might get away with things that i cant ...

A tree in a pot shouldn't be planted anytime unless the tree has been up-potted appropriately (even through the growing season). They need more work to the roots than any other type of of production. If anyone argues that they are nuts!

I'd be more inclinded to plant a B&B plant anytime given the plant is in in proper health and the ball is structurally sound.

What type of tree are you looking to plant? Various species react differently based on time of year and root system type....again if you need to work the roots.

If you're going to plopp the plant from container or meshbag into the hole then anytime is fine, you'll just have more stress with something planted mid-June through mid-August.
