Looks like an elm.

The bark looked very elmish to me but the way the leafs end in an elongated point does not.

bboy, are we hedging against callery because of the lack of root suckers after traumatic loss of a main trunk and total lack of fruit or fruit cluster remnants?

Elm leaves often do have acuminate tips, but after looking at a more zoomed-in view of the images, I'm not as sure as I was. Go for another walk in the park and get a better shot of the twigs and leaves. :)

Gonna have to go back with a real camera that can zoom ;-)
