Yes, I have both.

P. laurocerasus is a small to large shrub (some even small trees), depending on culitivar. 'Otto Luyken' is extremely common. I have a million of these. They really hold their green color in winter no matter how cold it gets. Hardy into zone 6.

P. caroliniana is a small to medium sized tree in the Mid-Atlantic (larger further south). Once established it is fairly hardy, though it can show some leaf burn and possible twig dieback the first winter in the ground in upper zone 7 (or during a particularly cold winter). It might have a better winter leaf color (less bronzing) with a bit of winter shade. Hardy zone 7 and warmer.
