This dogwood tree looks like it might have a disease?

of all its problems.. disease would be that last thing i thought of...

is it in a horse pasture???

why are there weeds on one side.. and bare soil on the other ...

why is part of the trunk under the soil.. and the other side.. what looks like 4 to 6 inches lower??

what caused the gaping lower wound.. in the last decade or so???

and what do you imagine happened to it.. to make the large upper gaping wound ...

yep... probably powdery mildew at work ...

we pulled up a large privet bush next to it is the reason for soil looking the way it is, not in pasture, not sure about wound, it was that way when we bought property.

classic symptoms of ungulate itching virus. Highly contagious, sometimes fatal. no resistance exists, although exclusion practices have yielded excellent results. Best treatment is fall application of lead at high velocity.
