We had landscaper plant 3 large Leyland Cypress last year. Two survived and one died so he re-planted it this spring. Well, the top of it died but the rest of it seems to be OK. Do I just cut off the dead top and if so does it matter when I do it - now or in early spring?

if you can get up there.. you might want to cut off all the brown.. but leave the stick.. and start training up a new leader .. gently ... otherwise.. its dead.. do it whenever you wish .. and . regardless.. it will releader.. if more than one.. reduce to one ken

Thank you. By leaving the stick do you mean to cut of the branches coming off the original leader but leave the main part of the leader? Sorry, just wanted to verify I got it right.
