You might cross post on the California Gardening forum. It is not as active as this one, but the majority of posters here are not from citrus-growing zones. (I have a lemon tree - an 'Improved Meyer' but have never grown one from seed!)

you might also want to try the fruit forum ...

the most IMPORTANT THING with growing trees in pots.. is the potting media ...

You'll find loads of people who grow citrus in containers in the Citrus Forum. Not too many from seed, though. I grow citrus from seed, but not with any expectations of fruit. I grow them to provide host plants for the Giant Swallowtail butterfly. :-)

They haven't said so, but the Citrus Forum folks probably think I'm wacky for that! Those big caterpillars sure do eat a LOT.

Ken is one hundred percent right about the importance of the potting medium. You'll get plenty of help with that aspect, too.

I have a Meyer lemon tree, but have never tried to grow any from seed. I am growing a seedling from an unidentified citrus that's probably a satsuma hybird. It's about 2 years old now. Probably won't bear any fruit for another 5 years or so. And I don't know if it will be any good. You'll get a lemon, though, from lemon seed. Be patient.
