| Did it sprout from an acorn three years ago, or did you plant a sapling three years ago? It it was an acorn it has really grown fast. |

| It was from an acorn. I got 3 trees from the lot of acorns I recieved from England. The other 2 are average growth rate, about 2 ft a year, maybe a few inches more. This particular tree is just growing like a beanstalk. It is starting to put out some side branches too, but seems to want to shoot to the sky. It isn't really growing in Fastigiate form, thank goodness. |

| Poaky: I think somewhere in this forum I mentioned the ones I have in the western MD mountains. They are terrifically fast growing. Then I got some seedlings from those trees and planted them here in VA. One of those seedlings grew very, very fast for three years, but after that its growth rate has slowed to nothing special. I think we are too hot and dry for it to grow fast here. It grew so fast at first because I watered it. Now it is on its own. Well, have fun watching this one. --spruce |
