Cherry plums

A local farm market sells delicious red plums, the size of a golf ball. The red skin is tart and the interior red flesh when ripe is sweet. They are delicious. I wanted to plant a tree or two in my backyard but the owner of the market did not know them by any name but cherry plum. A search on the internet yielded at best sketchy information. Can anyone name this variety of plums and give a source for purchase?

Sounds like a Japanese plum to me. Many kinds. Do not know, however if those are or are not grown in your area.

RE: Cherry plums

you have a couple options..

first.. with a pic .... there is a fruit forum.. you might have better luck there..

second.. go back and find the vendor... or find the city department tho has a list of vendors ...

third... call a few of the local orchards.. and do some sherlocking ...
