| This is one of the trees that I came across while looking for a good yard tree that can handle the hot, dry and windy climate of central Oklahoma, be reasonably fast growing and provide shade. I am very partial to the deep red/burgundy fall coloring which is why this particular variety of elm appeals to me. Can anyone here tell me more about this one? |

| I consider it worth growing, Can. If you've already read the blurbs from Morton Arboretum, etc. you know that it is highly DED resistant, highly resistant to elm yellows, moderately resistant to elm leaf beetles (So there could be some defoliation some years) and quite cold hardy. I just read one account claiming it to be somewhat less drought hardy than most elms, so that could factor into your investigation. Overall though, I'd say it's worth a shot. +oM |
