Bent Japanese Maple (Emperor One). Can I dig out after one year?

Hi, I have a question about digging out a 13' Emperor One Japanese Maple that has been in ground for a year. Last fall my father and I planted this tree and at the time it was up straight and looked good from a distance. This last winter the JM took some massive winter damage and all it's interior branches were exposed and I had to trim off all the dead branches. As I removed all the dead branches I notice that the main stem going upwards was leaning towards the right at a 15 degree angle. The main truck is straight as can be but the main branch where the canopy starts is angled. I was wondering if I can dig it out and straighten the tree out or should I leave it be and hope that when it fills out and won't be noticeable. I don't have any current pictures of the tree but here is one from a distance. Please forgive the poor quality, I will take a picture of the tree tomorrow. Thanks
