I wouldn't rule out pin oak just yet. Juvenile foliage on oaks is variable.

My oaks have different leaf-shapes on the same tree.

Doubt if it's shingle oak, tho. Looks like a vigorous pin oak.

Probably a pin. However as others have said, young oaks have variable foliage that doesn't always look like the mature tree. Usually by about the third or fourth season they're easier to identify IMHO.

Is fall color variable with youth also in oaks? I really should diversify now, I have three Quercus family trees already but volunteers are free experiments...

Oaks will readily hybridize in nature. It may be a combination of both the oaks you have.
