| What species is this young tree?
I think it's some type of Hickory, but not 100% sure. This photo was a few months ago; it's a lot bigger now. The red is now gone in the leaves (which are green) and trunk (which is brown now). Thank you for your help. |

| Yes, it is a Hickory. You might want to look at USDA and see what species you have in your area. But I might suggest Carya ovalis, red hickory, for your first comparison. |

| It looks like a root sucker as that's all one season's growth. Did you recently cut down a hickory?? |
