metasequoia glyptostroboides

Hi there... I planted two metasequoia early this summer, provided consistent watering, sun and good soil... Having an issue with one.. rapid browning and drooping of needles, while the other is just fine. The only weather incident we have had was a windy north wind storm, but temps never went below 50 during the night. 60's in afternoon. I have looked at all the literature, nothing refers to wind damage. Has anyone encountered anything like this. Am continuing to water. Is showing some new green growth... but most needles look dry and droopy. Does not look like the Autum foliage change... Any help will be appreciated.

Probably shock from strong wind that caused the tree to shift around too much causing new roots to break off?

where are you

can we have a pic

did you have severe drought or heat this summer???

and it is late sept.. the leaves are programmed to fall off soon ...

whatever is going on.. has nothing to do with the wind.. in my estimate.. but a pic might change my mind ...

RE: metasequoia glyptostroboides

These trees do not like dry winds. I had one that looked like it was blasted by a torch as a result of a couple of days of hot, dry, windy conditions in the Spring. Are you in drought currently? They like it moderately humid, might be the dry wind and dry soil conditions. Tree is deciduous, but depending on where you are, it may be premature, which is sign of a stressed out tree. Should be ok in the Spring.
