River birch yellowing earlier, should I worry?

Location: Northern IL in zone 5b.

I notice that the river birch in the front of my house is already lost a quarter of the leaves and yellowing. My neighbor's river birch is also doing the same but not as badly. My other neigbor's river birch looks totally green, but their tree is younger.

Should I worry or is this natural?

Paul

I'm surprised your tree hasn't lost all its leaves yet with the heat.

Its completely fine.

its not a time .. in z5 .. to worry about leaf loss ... it will be neked in a few weeks ...

crimminey.. whaas had a frost last night.. per another post ...

early leaf drop is usually a function of drought [or improper watering] or excessive heat.. or both.. to move beyond that.. in z5.. in late sept is a waste of mind power ... [but makes for a good post.. inquiring minds what to know.. lol]
