Is this some some kind of maple?

I'm thinking it's a maple, but can't get a positive on which. I know the characteristics of most maples, but this has me confused.

The leaves are reddish orange and are about the first to turn and fall in this area. The lobes are what are confusing me. The central lobe is quite pointy, and the sinuses slope steeply to one lobe on each side, so overall the leaf is longer than wide. The sinuses are shallow, and the leaf I have has one sinus which is slightly concave, whereas the other is shallowly V'd, so I don't know which would be the normal characteristic. There are five main veins radiating from the base. The edges are serrated.

Every time I pass the tree, I get annoyed that I don't know exactly which (maple?) it is.

My impression was and still is that it is a red maple. It's just that the shapes of the leaves are so inconsistent. The shallow and concave sinuses on many leaves made me confused. Thanks.
