Morris Blue Korean Pine -- Is it dying?

Hi all
Thanks for any help!
A month ago we bought a 5' Morris Blue Korean Pine from a respected local garden center. It had lost some needles -- they were stuck in the crotches of the tree -- but overall looked good. Since planting and watering it right it has done okay but continues to slowly lose needles, mostly interior ones that turn brown over a week or so and fall off. I'd say it has lost about 10% of the total needles. I've inspected the tree and can't see any insects or other issues. Any thoughts? It's difficult to find much info on this. At the same time I planted several other pines and they look great. Of course, this one had already lost some needles at the time of purchase. Thanks!

Its normal...and called fall needle loss.

You only have issues if your NEW growth at the ends start losing needles.

The needle loss can be more severe due to transplant stress. Bottomline its part of the process.

Be sure you don't overwater!

The needle loss can be more severe due to transplant stress in the heat of AUGUST.

My P. cembra and P. reflexa shed in early August due to the heat in July but my P. strobus and P. parviflora are shedding now.

Mike- As whaas said it is normal for the oldest needles to drop, and as Dan said, the fact you planted it in August exacerbated the loss. My well established 'Morris Blue' usually browns inside in late September.

Hi everyone
Thanks so much for the information. I knew it was just about the worst time to put trees in, but we just bought the house and the garden center inventory was dwindling, so we did it. What a beautiful tree. I've read that they really don't like wet feet, so I've been careful not to overwater. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.
