Oooh! Can someone from way, way, out of that zone guess? I'm working from memory of pictures, but is it a Pepperridge? Persimmon maybe? I honestly do not know. How did I do? :-)

As for the bump, that is either a burl, or what's left of a limb that was chopped off a few inches from the trunk, and healed over.

Nyssa sylvaticca - the leaves and unremarkable bark are the biggest clues

Yep that's a Black Tupelo (Nyssa sylvaticca). The Bump is caused by a canker. The tree has closed around the fungus infection or is trying to, so it can prevent spreading.

Thanks. Two of the three trees I ask for identification on are the same species. It is not a very pretty looking tree, but the squirrels find the bump useful for sitting on and eating nuts.
