Chinese redbud ... getting buds in September?

Hi all,

I have a potted Don Egolf Chinese Redbud. It's a little over a foot tall and it is developing flowers now, in September. This is a tree that's supposed to bloom in early spring ... any idea what's going on?

I'm in Zone 5, southwest Pennsylvania.

Also if it has gotten to dry, resulting in allot of leaf lose, tree will activate buds to grow new foliage. This will often activate flower buds as well. We have had and exceptionally hot dry summer. Then in the second week of August we got a week of rain and 4+ inches. Soon after there were various magnolia, crab apples, cherries, and pears flowering. Saw the same thing last year as well, but was more limited as it did not get as hot or quit as dry.

Yes, I added some fertilizer when I switched it to a larger pot about a month ago. I guess that did it ...
