Crape Myrtle Propagation...???

Posted by tropicalfreak z10b Ft Lauderdale (My Page) on

I have a bi-color Peppermint Lace. It is a couple feet tall. The blooms are even better this year. I was hoping to save some seed but the pods fall when the blooms are spent.
Any ideas why this is happening? It is healthy and happy. Other crape myrtles I have are setting seed.

Other ways to propagate? Tissue culture?

Thanks.

If you're wanting another 'Peppermint Lace', you'd need to propagate vegetatively. Seeds will not produce the cultivar (if that's what you are wanting). Crape myrtles are very easily propagated from cuttings, so that's the easy way.
