I have a tree someone gave me and i'm trying to keep it alive but I don't know what kind of tree it is. Can someone tell me so I can research the best way to treat it?

One of more than one kind grown as willow leaf ficus. Search "willow leaf ficus care" or "how to grow willow leaf ficus".

Ficus binnendiijkii "Alii" or just Ficus Alii is the most common in the trade at present.

Yeah, that's it - I bought one as 'Alii' about 20 years ago when I lived in an apartment in midtown Manhattan. It was a good-sized plant and I placed it in front of a north window and watered it once a week and it never gave me a moment's trouble. When I moved back to CA two years later I gave it to a friend and I think it's still alive!

I've never had one, but they are reported to be super easy to care for without the annoying leaf drop of Ficus benjamina.
