overwintering potted trees

I have about 40 potted trees (mostly red oak, plus a few apples and grapes) that I need to overwinter for a work project. They are in 2 gal pots. I also have 2 of my own brazzleberries raspberries in 18-20 in containers. I have a large unheated barn that also has a below-grade crawl space. Will it be sufficient to put all the pots close together in either the barn or the crawl space, or do I also need to insulate them with something (soil, leaves, etc.)? Would it be better to put them in the barn, where they will get more light and can be watered, or in the crawl space, which may stay warmer but doesn't get any light and watering would be difficult? Should I water them during the winter, and if so, how often? Thanks!!
