Grows well in dry areas, too. Cannot comment about leaf spot or transplant issues. Go for it man.

You might be pushing it zone wise but other than that it would probably work in your mini swamp. Perhaps a Taxodium distichum would be a better choice?

My former nursery was located in Zone 6 and Nyssa aquatica thrived in the low, damp areas of the acreage. I never counted but there must of been 30 mature ones scattered about. My very favorite tree. Any one who has the space and damp conditions needed for best growth should plant one (or more) for the ages.

I might give Nyssa aquatica a try then.

Metasequoia and Taxodium D. both seem to do well enough in St Louis. I have a species and an Ogon Metasequoia in the yard already and the park local to me has enough bald cypress to satisfy me or else I would absolutely have one.
