| Philly residents can get two free yard trees this fall. Ran the same program last spring with about 6 different tree options. Talk about a nice selection to choose from this time around:
TreePhilly (click on "TreePhilly Fall tree profiles" to see the options). Of course, I spent $60 on the same size fringe tree last spring. |

| It sure was a nice selection |

| Nice program and they do have a nice selection. I personally own just over half of what they offer. You going to get anything? A nice smoke tree perhaps! My village offered a program through the utiliy dept. to get a $50 credit (up to two) if you planted a 1.5" caliper or greater tree on the west or south side of your home as a new home owner. I wish there was more awareness built around programs like these. I get so frustrated when I see homes that are 20, 30 years old and all they have on their 1/2 acre lot is one tree. Even more frustrating are these greety nurseries that keep trees in their fields and just let em go if they don't sell. Then they end up cutting them down like idiots. Why not donate the tree and charge labor once it reaches a certain caliper!?! Or just simply discount the plant material to recoup the cost to dig. |

| I signed up for two, but I'm not sure I have the room for any of them. From that list, I have 2 white oaks, 2 serviceberries, and a sweetbay already. If I could make room for any one tree, it would be a black gum, but really can't think of a location for it unless I removed something and gave it away - which may be a possibility. Also had plans for a smoketree, silverbell, and yellowwood, but ended up going a different route. Don't know too much about the persimmon, but it's funny because they just replaced a non-native cherry with this, making it all native. I'm mostly emailing neighbors and friends offering to plant it for them if they sign up. |

| "I'm mostly emailing neighbors and friends offering to plant it for them if they sign up. " Good on you c2g. What a great program! John |

| Is it true that the sweet bays there only get to be about 10-20 ft tall? The ones here on the Gulf Coast will get quite a bit bigger and bloom from May to October. The other tree descriptions are similar to here. |

| Looking at some outside my office right now that are close, but I don't remember seeing any over 20' tall, and nowhere near as long of a bloom time - at least for mine. |
