| Hello folks
here I am asking for your ID skills. 4 remarkable trees that I cannot ID (largely due to my ignorance of conifers) |
Here is a link that might be useful: gallery of trees

| #1 - Picea abies (Norway spruce) #2 - Larch (Larix sp.) #3 - Japanese Yew (Taxus cuspidata) #4 - Paperbark Maple (Acer griseum) Best guesses with the photos provided.... |
| Not a conifer guy, so will not touch those ID's, but the last one is definitely Paperbark Maple. Arktrees |
| gosh, the bark on that yew was GORGEOUS! Are you guys sure that that is a Larch and not a pseudolarix? Seemed very different from the other larches nearby |
| another question. How is it possible that the first is a norway spruce? Typically norways don't have such pendulous branches. Is this maybe a cultivar? |
| Ditto to Smivies; yes, Norway Spruce for #1 and a true larch for #2 Resin |

| Actually, Norway spruce usually do have a good deal of pendulousness. They are on the whole a fairly variable species, but that one fits right in the middle of what you usually see. Maybe a somewhat thin crown, but pretty typical. +oM |
