redbud problems

| I have a redbud in my backyard that was BEAUTIFUL in the spring. Once summer hit, the leaves started developing black spots that eventually take over the entire leaf. The leaves don't wilt or fall off; they just turn black and hang on.
We just had a lot of rain recently and little leaves have begun to sprout all over the tree. Each of the new leaves are already showing the same problems. We've been in a drought for the past.... 2 or 3 years. Also, my husband put weed and feed within the drip line back in April.
Any ideas what may be causing my redbud to be a blackbud? |

Weed and feed can cause a lot of damage to trees. The chemicals can't distinguish between your dandelions and a tree. |

| many places in the USA were troubled by various fungus's because of unseasonably cooler summers and more rain than usual. |

| I have 2 redbuds and they do this every year and I can't figure out why. Their first year we got normal rain and then 2nd year we got a ton of rain. |

| I would get ahold of your local arborist. You may try spaying the tree with copper at bud break. |

| I have given up completely on "deadbuds"- they are just too susceptible to disease and have such a short lifespan. |
