What to Do With Hickory and Oak Seedlings

I have a couple dozen Shagbark Hickory seedlings that I dug up from my yard, most about 6" tall that look to have survived the digging up a month or so ago. They are currently potted up and on my upstairs balcony to keep the squirrels from cutting them down and digging.

I also have half a dozen few Burr Oak seedlings, about the same size.

I don't have the room to plant them in my yard, and because of their smaller size, it's hard to plant them in the woods without their getting cut/trampled.

I have one friend who may be interested in some of them. Any suggestions on groups that might be interested in the seedlings to grow to a larger size then transplant? Since these are "good" trees and not easy to find to buy, I'd hate to get rid of them.

I should also check the local Morton Arboretum....

Thanks,

vince

The thing about these is that it's just so much easier/more effective to plant these from seed, IMO. If they were a little larger, they might have some value, but, at 6", your just gonna have to find someone that happens to want them.
