How about Acacia salicina, the willow acacia? Not sure the bark is right though.

Could be Dodonea viscosa or Dodonea viscosa 'Purpurea'. It's a short-lived tree/shrub--maybe 20 years--sometimes not even that long--native to the American southwest.

They are fast growing and reseed freely so at least from their perspective they don't need to be long-lived.
