| I live in Wisconsin and am looking for anyone that may have some Red-Twig Dogwood or Wintberry suckers, that you would send me, for postage or if you don't live to far away that I could come and get. We moved to town, not to long ago, in a home that's new, no trees in the yard yet. I'd like these because of the berries they produce for the birds.
Thanks in advance |

| Red twig flowers and berries are underrated IMO. Mine grow so fast I have to cut em back every year. I know they root from cuttings if you can't find suckers. Not sure of the best time to take them but I remember I used a box store rooting hormone |

| Where ya at, Halley? If I'm reading you right, it's "live stakes" you seek. These are branches from suitable shrub species-red twigged dogwood is indeed one-cut during dormancy, which is pretty much right now, and stuck in soft, moist ground to root. I live in the very land of red twigged dogwood, so I'm sure I could find you some. Time is the limiting factor. Lots going on. On the other hand, simply purchasing the shrubs would be inexpensive and would work faster towards populating your yard with these plants. In fact, if you could source bare-root plants, they're extremely inexpensive. You could get a whole bundle of 20 or 50 plants-I'm making up the numbers-for few dollars. Bare-root works great if planted while dormant. +oM |

| Like Tom & tornado say, true red-twigged dogwoods can grow from cuttings simply thrust into the ground in spring -- I've done it successfully quite a bit. Cuttings have to be watered constantly for the first yr, tho. Cuttings like that will not work for common flowering dogwood. |
