tallest tree in Victoria perished in fires

Australian Geographic magazine reports that the 92.4m "Big Ash One" was killed in last February's Black Saturday fires, as were all of the handful of trees above 90m. It will likely be more than a decade before 90m is achieved again.
Victoria could still have the mainland's tallest trees. In Western Australia the tallest tree is either 89m or 85m, depending which site you believe:

| sad to hear Phil but as you say there are (luckily) still others left to eventually replace them. |
