What is this on my Magnolias!

| My Merril, Leonard, and Royal Star Magnolias all had a few long narrow (about 1") black sausage looking things at the very ends of a couple stems.
Here is a picture of one that actually looks like it opened up. I just noticed these things after the leaves dropped in the last couple days.
Any ideas? Any long term issues? They simply just snapped off the ends of the stems with very litte effort.

Definitely a seed pod. Completely normal. You'll see these every year.

Any issues with them turning black? Or are they just dieing off?

No issues. It's what they do.

Like the others said it is completely normal. That is just the center of the flower...the seeds formed inside.

Magnolias are so ancient that it can be seen that the flower consists primarily of colored leaves with a cone in the center.

Oh my, It's a seed pod as others have mentioned. If you didn't have them then I would be worried.
