Wife cut my weeping Alaskan cedar :(

Hi everybody. My wife did some trimming while I was not home today and decided the weeping cedar was about 4 feet too tall for her liking and just lopped it off. The diameter of the main stem was just over an inch and the trees overall height is, well was about 10-12 feet. The tree was outgrowing it's space and I was going to transplant it next year but now I'm afraid it's ruined and will never grow right again. The tree had a main shaft that shot perfectly vertical from the dirt to the top, now it has a nasty lop taken where the rest used to be. Will it ever grow right again or is it too late for this tree and should I just rip it out next year and cut my losses. Thanks for the help everybody.
