| Thank you for suggesting tulip trees for shading a house in my last post.
I actually found a couple trees looking like tulip trees in my neighborhood. Are they tulip trees?
The skinny straight trunk next to the pine is its trunk
After reading all your suggestions, I checked the information on tulip trees and see some photos online. Everybody seems happy and claims that tulip trees are beautiful trees. Perhaps these two I found in the neighborhood are too young to look attractive. Their trunks are so skinny. The trees are not full with foliage. The limbs are kind of spreading apart. Thus, I am wondering if these trees are tulips. They just don't look as charming as everybody says...... |

| Yes, Tulip Tree is right! The leaves don't look good, partly because it's the end of the year and they're nearly ready to drop, and partly because they're growing in shade, whereas they do best (by far) in full sun. Resin |

| thank you. yes indeed they are growing in shade |

| I think the damage is bioligical, there are even some plant pin marks like a fungus is present. As mentioned tulip tree is a full sun species, often forming stands mostly by itself and growing larger than other trees on the site in time. Notice how the one under the pine looks as though trying to escape, and is spindly. |

| They will provide shade to the house, but are prone to breaking off at the top so I wouldn't plant it too close to the house either. |
